Component Method
Materials:
Scientific Calculator
Definition:
Component method – is a method used to get the resultant vector by using the Scientific Calculator and knowledge about Geometry and Trigonometry about triangles and angles.
Procedure:
First is to find the Dx and Dy. TTo determine the DX and DY you must first draw lines that is corresponding to its given direction.
Ex:
From the point of origin draw a 4cm line that is 20 degrees north East.
To do this you must first draw a x and y axis then draw the line starting from the point of origin of the axis’s, then locate DX and DY.
Ex:
Next is to compute the value of DX and DY by the formulas:
DX = (d) (cos) angle
Dy = (d) (sin) (angle)
Ex:
DX = (4cm) (cos) (20 degrees) = 3.75
DY = (4cm) (sin) (20 degrees) = 1.39
Finally when you all got the DX and DY of the problem add all of it then the totel of it will be called RX and RY, then to get the final Resultant vector you must ff. the follow the formula:
